Backyard Patch Herbs

Backyard Patch Black Teas Blends are a special combination of high quality black tea and flavorful herbs. They are hand-crafted blends which infuse black teas with a wonderful combination of flavors only available with fresh dried herbs and spices.

Many of these blends were first crafted by request for Museums, Tea Shops and Women's Club events as a custom tea sold only at the event. They are available here as a special offering and proceeds from items sold that benefit a museum or charity will be given to that organization.

We have always blended our teas for taste first, crafting blends that bring out the unique flavors of herbs. If you are interested in a custom blend for your organization, please do not hesitate to contact me via Conversations.

Each Loose Tea is packaged in a 3" x 4" zip-seal pouch with about 1/2 cup by volume which can range from 1 to 3 ounces. Always enough tea for at least 12 to 15 cups or more of brewed tea. We recommend you transfer from the zip-seal to a jar or tin for long-term storage.

Like all blends from the Backyard Patch we guarantee an 18 to 24 month shelf-life, because we use only the freshest herbs. All Backyard Patch herbs are raised organically and are chemical and pesticide free.

For the price listed you can choose from any ONE of the listed varieties.

~~~~AVAILABLE LOOSE BLACK TEAS~~~~
Victorian Crystal -- This blend combines black tea with rosemary, sage, hyssop, cinnamon and other spices to create a rich, dark tea that is great in the morning or as an afternoon pick-me-up.
Citrus and Cinnamon – Black tea, with lemon and orange peel along with nutmeg and cinnamon make this a strongly flavored tea kin to a Chai.
Victorian Floral Tea – All herb flowers have been blended into this black tea mixture, including hibiscus, lavender, calendula, mint, lemon balm and orange peel to make a sweet and not too strong tea with a hint of lemon.
Shamrock Tea -- This individual blend of Irish black tea, spearmint, blackberry leaf and rose hips was created especially for the Wheaton History Center "Shamrock" Tea held January 9, 2000
Hibiscus Tea -- Black Tea and Hibiscus makes a citrus flavored black tea that is both richly red colored and perfect hot and cold.
Chai tea -- My own recipe for this delicacy of India is created to mimic the flavor of traditional Chai Tea and is easy to prepare. Sweeten it with honey or sugar to taste and you will have a rich tasting spicy blend that is perfect with milk. In addition to loose leaf black tea this blend contains, ginger, cardamon, cinnamon, cloves, fennel and nutmeg. Recipes for different preparation methods are included.
Valentine Love Tea -- a blend of black tea rose petals and chocolate to give you a sweet yet savory tea to enjoy with your Honey!
Angel Tea – The blend of Black tea with lemon herbs and flowers such as lavender, calendula and rose petals was first made for the Glen Ellyn, Illinois 1st United Methodist Women’s Club Tea event in 1999. The blend is so flavorful that it is still a big seller. Perfect when sweetened with a touch of honey and good as an iced tea too.
Lemon Bergamot – a blend of black tea, bergamot and lemon verbena that remind one of Earl Grey in flavor with a lemony scent that is wonderful both hot and iced.
Victorian Lavender – A simple blend of black tea and lavender flowers that has a sweet floral taste and a wonderful richness that makes it the perfect accompaniment to scones in the afternoon or pancakes in the morning.
Garden Gait 2010 -- This special blend was crafted with the help of the Lisle, IL Women's Club and used as a fund raiser for their annual garden walk. The proceeds from every bag sold go the the Women's Club scholarship fund.
