Cinnamon Spice Blend
Equal Parts (Approximately)
- Ground Cinnamon
- Ground Nutmeg
- Ground Cloves
Combine equal amounts, more or less, of the spices in a large bowl and then create some great cinnamon scented fun.
This mixture can be used to roll an orange studded with cloves to a make a Pomander decoration or kissing ball. It adds to the fragrance and aids in preserving the fruit as it dries.
You can also place it in a zip seal bag and toss in some pinecones to make scented cones for decorating.
You can use it to create a Spice Clay to make your own ornaments.
Clay Spice Ornaments
Craft 1 ½ cups of the cinnamon spice mixture
1 Cup Applesauce
1 Tbls. Elmer’s glue
Mix 1-1/2 cups of cinnamon spice mix with applesauce and Elmer's glue until all are well moistened. Place on a sheet of parchment and top with another sheet and roll out until about ¼ inch thick. Using cookie cutters and cut into special shapes.
Poke relatively large holes for hanging (They will shrink.) Dry on wax paper or parchment for at least 48 hours. Thread ribbon or string through hole and tie on packages or tree. Add to garlands or potpourri! They take about 1 week to dry completely. I have sometimes placed the cut shapes between parchment and laid a medium weight book on top to keep them from cupping or curling while drying.
