Stovetop Potpourri

  • 1-part cinnamon sticks, broken
  • 1-part whole cloves
  • 1/2-part whole allspice
  • 1-part dried citrus cubes or slices
  • 2-parts dried cranberries
  • 1-part dehydrated apples chunks or slices
  • ½-part dried rosemary

Combine as large or as small a batch as you want by increasing or decreasing the size of the part.  Fill 4-ounce Mason Jars or 8-ounce jelly jars with the mixture.  Decorate the jar with a decorative paper folded over the lid and tied with bakers’ twine.  Instructions for how to use the potpourri can be placed on a strip that wraps over the jar.

Instructions to include with the potpourri:

Empty entire contents of the jar into a small saucepan.  Add enough water or a combination of water and apple juice to cover the mixture by ½ to ¾ of an inch.  Stir to moisten all the ingredients.  Then heat the water to a simmer and allow to gently simmer to stay warm and release it wonderful scent.  Check often to make sure the water does not evaporate.  You can enjoy the scent for hours.
