Merry Christmas!
May your holiday be merry and safe!
I am ending the Advent Calendar with a cocktail. 2020 is a year of many trials and tribulations, which sometimes calls for a cocktail. I also have fun sharing herb scented or flavored cocktails and I shared this variation during my recent Merry Mocktails program.
Cranberries are not just for Thanksgiving. They will carry you through the entire holiday season. With this recipe you need to make a cranberry simple syrup and craft a garnish that uses rosemary and fresh cranberries. I got the original recipe from Inspiredbycharm.com but I have substituted some apple Jim Beam to give me the perfect holiday flavor.
Cranberry Apple Bourbon
- 3 ounces quality apple flavored bourbon whiskey
- 1 ounce cranberry simple syrup (See below)
- 3 shakes citrus bitters (you can substitute any store-bought bitters if you don’t make your own.)
- Garnish with three cranberries skewers on a sprig of rosemary
In a serving glass with ice, stir together the bourbon, cranberry simple syrup, and bitters. Garnish with rosemary and cranberry skewers.
Cranberry Simple Syrup - In a saucepan, bring 2 cups of water, 1 cup of sugar, and one cup of fresh cranberries to a boil. Once boiling, cook for 4-5 minutes. Strain with a fine mesh sieve. Cool before serving. Will keep up to a week in the refrigerator so you can revisit this cocktail all through the Holiday week!
