Every Summer I create a variety of Herbal Vinegars with fresh herbs. This one is special and in limited supply, made with Chive flower blossoms and distilled white vinegar, it has a light onion flavor and a lovely pink color. It is packaged in a glass cruet sealed with a cork.

Perfect as a dressing or vinaigrette ingredient, you will love chive blossom vinegar and its sweet oniony flavor.  Then mourn the fact I can only make it in April when the chives bloom, so when it is gone it is gone until next year.

Preserving the fresh flavor of an herb, herbal vinegar is a great flavor addition to dressings and marinades as well as a perfect pick-me-up to sauces and vegetables. Herbal vinegar never spoils, but it does lose its unique herbal character after about 18 months.

Along with the vinegar we will include a recipe and tip sheet as well as several special recipes for use with this particular flavor of vinegar. (See our other herb vinegars in the Cooking Herbs Collection.

The vinegar will be carefully packaged for shipping to avoid breakage and spillage.

Here is a recipe like those included with this purchase:

Herb Salad Dressing
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup sour cream
2 Tbls. herb vinegar
1/2 tsp. dried oregano
1/2 tsp. sugar
dash salt & pepper

Blend ingredients in covered container and allow 4 hours in refrigerator to meld. Can be used as a dip or thinned with 3 Tbls. of milk for salad dressing.
